  Please bring your binoculars and meet at the Fire Tower Parking Lot for a 45 minute historical interpretive tour of the Fire Tower and Seneca Point. Learn about local logging history, observe Indian sign, and take a breathtaking view from the box at the very top of the Fire Tower which will be open until 230pm.

Explore Cook Forest at night for Pennsylvania's owls as we car-pool to owl hotspots in the park. Barred, great horned, screech and saw-whet owls have been known to make an appearance.

Clarion River
  Please meet at the Park Office for to search the river for the elusive Allegheny Alligator and its close relative, the mudpuppy. Be prepared to get thoroughly drenched. Bring a sturdy river-walking stick. Proper river footwear is a must. We will car-pool up-river to potential sites. Hellbenders have been confirmed below the Piney Dam, but none have been scientifically verified this far upstream. Finding one would be a monumentous occasion giving more credence to the increased health and water quality of the National Wild & Scenic Clarion River.

Clarion River
  Cook Forest Clear Creek State Park Complex will be conducting a 6-mile guided interpretive canoeing program along the National Wild & Scenic Clarion River beginning at the Clear Creek State Park canoe launch. The following programs will be presented: canoe safety, river history, fish, aquatic insects, and wildlife of the Clarion River. Please remember to pack a lunch, water, and wear proper river footwear. Participants must pre-register prior to the trip at the Park Office by calling (814)744-8407. Sorry, we only have 8 canoes. Space is limited, so reserve early.

Meet at the Children's Fishing Pond behind the Park Office to learn basic baiting, casting, and knot tieing techniques designed to help make you a better fisherman. A packet of fishing goodies will be given to each family.

  Please join us at Cook Riverside Cabins, 1/2 mile up-river from the RT36 Cooksburg Bridge, to help clean up various sections of the National Wild & Scenic Clarion River. After a busy summer season, there is lots of work that needs to be done. The Pale Whale Canoe Fleet will provide free canoes and transport to various sections along the river from Halton to Cooksburg. Please pack a lunch and bring plenty of water. If Saturday is rained out, then well go Sunday instead. Participants must pre-register at Cook Riverside Cabins by calling (814)744-8300. Individuals, scout groups, and civic organizations are encouraged to attend.
